Art Madness

Instead of March Madness, it was Art Madness!!

The Deco Arts Spring Break Camp week at Glen Echo Park, Maryland, was nothing short of spectacular for our young artists! From March 25th to the 29th, our campers embarked on a journey of imagination and creation that left smiles on their faces and masterpieces in their hands.

Monday: Drawing Signs of Spring and Clay Sculptures

Under the warm spring sun, we kicked off our week by sketching signs of spring at the park, which blossomed into stunning landscape drawings on canvas. In the afternoon, our campers got their hands dirty with clay, shaping sculptures that were destined for the kiln.

Tuesday: Nature Landscape Paintings and Architectural Sculptures

With brushes in hand, we completed our nature landscape paintings in the morning, capturing the beauty of the outdoors on canvas. In the afternoon, we ventured into the world of architecture, crafting sculptures from cardboard, adding depth and texture to our creations.

Wednesday: Painting Architectural Models and Silk Screen Printing

As the rain tapped gently on the windows, we delved into painting our architectural models, bringing them to life with vibrant colors. In the afternoon, we turned to silk screen printing, transforming plain t-shirts and bags into personalized works of art.

Thursday: Adding Finishing Touches and Detailing

With a flurry of excitement, we adorned our architectural models with fabric, pom-poms, fake plants, and ribbons, adding the final touches to our architectural wonders. In the afternoon, we meticulously detailed our silk-screen printed treasures, ensuring they were truly one-of-a-kind.

Friday: Abstract Painting Experiment and Clay Sculpture Painting

As the week drew to a close, we let our imaginations run wild with an abstract painting experiment, exploring color and form in unconventional ways. In the afternoon, we painted our fired clay sculptures, giving them the finishing touches before packing up all our artwork in our custom silk-screened reusable tote bags.

From landscapes to sculptures, silk screens to abstract paintings, the spring break art camp at Glen Echo Park was a whirlwind of creativity and joy. We’re immensely proud of our young artists and hope to see them this summer at the Deco Art Summer Camps!
